Never Change

I’d love to say that the weather won’t hold me back from jogging

Galatians 1:1-10

Reference: I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you to live in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel— (Galatians 1:6 NIV)

Explore: For the last 3 months I’ve been very diligently getting up early to go for a jog. It was excruciatingly difficult when I began, but it has gradually got easier and more enjoyable.

As I started in the middle of Summer I am know noticing a considerable change in the weather. In the last month it has been getting darker and darker, to the point where I’ve had to take a torch with me.

While it may be dark, the Autumn (Fall) weather has still been very mild. I know that it won’t be long when it will be dark as well as cold and even wet!

I’d love to say that the weather won’t hold me back from jogging, but I can’t guarantee that to be true.

Application: Often, when the temperature changes, we change our behaviours. So too, when the temperature changes in an environment we start changing how we act.

Like if our boss is away, we slack off at work. Or maybe a friend isn’t initiated much contact, so we just give up on the relationship.

Just because other people change their behaviour, does not mean we should drop out standards.
Christ’s actions were always consistent with God’s ways, and ours should be the same. No matter what is happening around us, we must hold true to the integrity we have in our faith and always reflect Jesus’ behaviour.

Prayer: Lord, forgive us when we are influenced by the world instead of by Your word. Help us to always act in love and grace, just as You do. Amen.

Is there an area in your life where your behaviour is slipping?
