Neighbours
They moved into our neighbourhood a year ago and it hasn’t been the same place since.

We love having a chat, our children move freely from one property to the next and I feel I could ask them for assistance at any time. In fact, often they will help with gardening or a meal before I even have to ask!
I love our house, but our home is even better because of the neighbours around us.
Application: I love how Elizabeth’s neighbours were there for her when John was born. Babies can be quite overwhelming and the help of family and friends can make a huge difference.
I get the feeling Elizabeth lived in a time when community was much stronger than it is today where I live in Australia. We strive so much for independence that I think we lose a sense of who we are and where we come from.
I’m all for being self sufficient (and I’m sure my parents were happy when that happened too!) but let’s not lose our connection with the rest of humanity as we strive to make our own difference in the world.
Prayer: Lord, You bring us into this world into a community. While we grow and mature, help us to deepen our ties to You and the faith communities You have created for us. Amen.
