Once the Musical
I was so enamoured by the whole production

Explore: I recently went to see the musical “Once”. It was an incredible stage production where all the actors stayed on stage the whole time and were all part of the ensemble.
I was so enamoured by the whole production that I raved about it on Facebook. This may not be unusual behaviour for some, but I rarely post on Facebook so this was high praise indeed!
A number of my close friends concurred about the performance and some expressed their desire to witness the brilliance of “Once” as well. But one comment took me by surprise:
“I saw it too… Wasn’t enamoured… Not sure what I missed.”
I couldn’t believe it. How could someone not appreciate the incredible talent, the heartfelt story and the fabulous direction?
But once I calmed down from my total state of bafflement, I realised we all have different opinions and we have the right to share them. Even if it is the opposite to my opinion!
Application: Imagine if God was expecting everyone to have the same opinion as Him. I guess He’d be constantly baffled!
He must watch us and think, “Really? How could you think that? How could you say that? Don’t you know beauty when you see it? Don’t you understand wisdom when you hear it?!!”
And yet, we all miss it at some stage. We can chastise the Pharisees from 2000 years ago for not knowing God when He walked amongst them, whilst we’re missing seeing God in our everyday as well.
Let’s not hold so close to our judgements and prejudice that we miss God altogether.
Prayer: Lord, open my eyes to Your love, Your wisdom and Your thoughts. Amen.
