The couple had already started their routine but my eyes were immediately glued to the screen as I watched these two people glide around the rink in perfect unison.
Reference: v.10 “When you tell these people all this and they ask you, ‘Why has the Lord decreed such a great disaster against us? What wrong have we done? What sin have we committed against the Lord our God?’…” (NIV Bible)
Explore: The other day I turned on the television to find that the ice skating competition was airing from the Vancouver Olympics. The couple had already started their routine but my eyes were immediately glued to the screen as I watched these two people glide around the rink in perfect unison. It was one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen before in my life. With what seemed like absolute effortlessness, the couple performed their routine with elegance and perfection. They did not strive to show their individual skill but staying completely connected to their partner. I have never seen two people so completely in sync with each other before. It was truly mesmerising.
Application: Such beauty and perfection can come into our lives too if we stay in unison with God. We may not be able to glide around an iced rink but our lives can display a beauty that is mesmerising if we display God’s qualities, as He does too. Sometimes we can get out of sync with God and our lives lose deeper meaning and fulfilment. It seems that this is what happened to the people of Judah who were so out of sync with God they didn’t even know why He would bring such harshness upon them. If they had have been aware of His laws and His desires for their lives then they would have known how He would have them live. When we disconnect with reading the Bible, praying and attending church then we too can lose sight of God’s actions. And it’s difficult to stay in unison with God if you cannot see where He is moving. The most beautiful life is not that which holds aesthetic value but that which moves in unison with God.
Prayer: Lord, You do not hold authority from afar but you move throughout all of creation. May we notice Your moves so that we can get insync with what You are doing here on earth. Amen.
Do you feel insync with God at the moment? What will assist you to move in unison with Him?
