I tend to get fairly grumpy and irritable
Reference: “Joseph found favor in his eyes and became his attendant. Potiphar put him in charge of his household, and he entrusted to his care everything he owned.” Genesis 39:4 NIV
Explore: It is hard not to allow your situation to define your attitude.
When things are not going to plan and become out of my control, I tend to get fairly grumpy and irritable. This is often not necessary, but it’s the attitude I choose to take.
It’s easy to be happy when everything is going well and then to become grumpy when the situation changes. People who have great hope in the future are less likely to be swayed by their current situation.
This is something I am still working on.
Application: Joseph showed great integrity in all kinds of situations. He was honest with his family, a hard worker in Egypt and even a loyal leader in jail.
I’m not sure how Joseph felt about his future, but he had an amazing ability to make the best out of every situation he was in.
Joseph’s perspective gives me great courage to look at the bigger picture, rather than the intricate details of troubled times. Let’s not be swayed by our present situation, but live in the hope and the knowledge that God has something great in store for us.
Prayer: Lord, help me see beyond my emotions and strive to live a life of integrity no matter what my situation. Amen.
When have you allowed your situation to get the better of you?
