I have had great parents and I am more than happy to replicate their behaviour
Reference: “If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”” John 14:7 NIV
Explore: My husband has recently hurt his back. Even the most simple moves, like bending over to put on his socks, causes him great pain.
He has started walking like his father – who has had 2 hip replacements and a knee replacement – and I have started to act like my mother – who put my father’s socks on every morning! We’re only just around our 40s and already showing strong signs of our parents!
Fortunately for me, I have had great parents and I am more than happy to replicate their behaviour. I don’t mind if people meet me and see my parents reflected in who I am.
Application: When Jesus was on earth He was showing everyone the Father. His actions were a direct reflection of what His Father’s heart was.
If we are to be like anyone, we should aim to be like the Father too.
It doesn’t matter what our earthly parents or role models are like, we have the ultimate example in Jesus. Follow Him and you will showing all who see you what God is like.
Prayer: Lord, may we learn to be more like You everyday. May people look at us and always see You. Amen.
How have you been Christlike today?
