This bronze plate was used as the reference location
Reference: “Jesus gave them this answer: “Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does.” John 5:19 NIV
Explore: In the state of Kansas, in the United States, there is a bronze plate positioned on the ground. This bronze plate was used as the reference location which measured all other locations in the United States.
What a significant point. If any land was needing to be measured across the whole nation they would use the position of this plate for the measurement to be relative to.
Application: That is how we should treat God. In anything we do, we should look back to Him as our bronze plate, to make sure our actions are measured back to Him.
If we are acting in such a way that is disconnected or in the opposite direction of God, then we will find ourselves way off course.
That is how Jesus acted when He walked the earth. Even when the greatest religious leaders questioned His actions, He looked back to His Father in Heaven and told them He was just doing what His Father does.
That is the measure we should aim for. Not to measure ourselves against the next passing fad or the current popular trend, but only measure ourselves back to our Father in heaven.
Prayer: Father God, you are the One who displays ultimate love and grace. May we live more like You each and every day. Amen.
How are you going in measuring back only to God?
