My friend mentioned that she was, “an accident” in their family too, and Ben was really quick to correct her.
Reference: v.14b Who knows? Maybe you were made queen for just such a time as this. (The Message Bible)
Explore: I was recently involved in a conversation with Australia’s Best Impersonator Ben Price. He was telling a friend and I the great news that he and his wife are expecting another baby. He mentioned that they hadn’t necessarily planned for this one, but they were really excited about adding to their family. My friend mentioned that she was, “an accident” in their family too, and Ben was really quick to correct her. “No”, he said, “no one is an accident.”
Application: There are some people who have changed the course of history through their inventions, leadership or writings, but I agree with Ben, no one is an accident. We all have a role to play and we were all made for such a time as this. Our purpose may not be as life threatening as Queen Esther, as she was called to stand up for a race that was about to be annihilated, but we are all called to stand up for something. You are not an accident; you were made for such a time as this.
Prayer: Lord, may we open our eyes to the call you have on our lives. We can make a difference with you by our side. Help us to change your world. Amen.
What is it that you were made for in such a time as this?
