It’s not a sacrifice, it’s obedience
Reference: So you also, when you have done everything you were told to do, should say, ‘We are unworthy servants; we have only done our duty.’ ” (Luke 17:10 NIV)
Explore: People are often in awe of us when they find out we are foster parents. I must say, fostering children is a tough gig and the appreciation is lovely.
Other people’s appreciation, however, is certainly not why we foster children. In fact, to give children a better life is not even the main reason we open up our home.
God loved us so much He sacrificed greatly for us. It is the least I can do to return the same gift back to God through helping others.
It’s not a sacrifice, it’s obedience to the command God has given us to love others.
Application: Fostering children isn’t for everyone, but loving others is. That’s the command God gave to every single one of His followers, no matter what their gifts, strengths, preferences or abilities.
And so, we must do what God has commanded us. Not for great appreciation, but because it is what we have all been called to do!
Prayer: Lord, may we be obedient to what You have called us to do. May we find our way to love You through loving others. Amen.
How are you loving others for God?
