Many other people donated money however it was this lady that stood out the most

Explore: LightFM – the Christian Radio Station in Melbourne, Australia – recently had their Open Day. Over 2000 people came through the doors to look at their facilities and enjoy the festivities of the day. While many people came to celebrate there was one who stood out. She was a regular listener who loved the station but lived off a single pension. Every week since October last year she had been putting one dollar aside to donate to the Station. On Open Day she came and presented one of my colleagues with $20, apologizing that it was not more, but explaining that she wanted to give to LightFM as it had added so much to her life.
Application: Many other people donated much more money that day or paid more to become a member of our Star Club. However, it was this lady with her $20 that stood out the most, not because she gave the most but because she had given so much of her heart through her donation. Imagine having someone thinking of you every single week, and then putting aside some of their finances for you. That is dedication – with your physical resources as well as with your emotional resources. In Numbers we read of all the things that the tribes of Israel gave to God when the altar was being dedicated. It is great to give of our physical resources but it is also important, as true followers of God, to give of our hearts as well as our wallets.
Prayer: Lord, I desire to give you my whole self. May today I find ways to be generous with my wallet as well as dedicated with my heart. Amen.
Do you find it easier to give to God through your wallet or your heart?
