Love Anyway

“If you are kind, people may accuse you of ulterior motives. Be kind anyway.”

1 Timothy 1:3-7

Reference: “The goal of this command is love, which comes from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith.” 1 Timothy‬ ‭1:5‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Explore: “People are often unreasonable and self centred. Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of ulterior motives. Be kind anyway.

If you are honest, people may cheat you. Be honest anyway.

If you find happiness, people may be jealous. Be happy anyway.

The good you do today may be forgotten by tomorrow. Do good anyway.

Give the world the best you have and it may never be enough. Give your best anyway.

For you see, in the end, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway.” – Mother Teresa.

Application: Over and over in the Bible God tells us to love. Mother Teresa unpacks what it means to love in her quote above.

Our love may not be enough and may not be perceived as genuine, but Mother Teresa encourages us to live as God commanded and love anyway. Not to serve others but in our service to God.

Love is hard and frustrating and challenging. I guess that’s why God has to remind us so much to do it anyway.

Prayer: Lord, You are love. As we aim to live more like You may we look to You as our guide. Amen.

How is your expression of love going?
