Life’s Harsh Realities

You will love and not be loved back
Reference: “Why, Lord, do you stand far off? Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble?” Psalm‬ ‭10:1‬ ‭NIV‬‬
Explore: I recently read a great piece of writing by Howard Britt:
You will love and not be loved back. Give, and not receive.
Help and be left helpless. Teach and not be taught.
Forgive and be forgotten. Trust and be doubted. Pray and be cursed by others.
You will be unnoticed, unliked, unloved, and unappreciated. But NEVER EVER EVER let anyone else stop you from being you.
Because you are the one stretching, growing, and rising. Never subtract the best of you to add the worst of anyone else.
Application: While these statements may seem on the negative side, I feel they are in line with the life of the Psalmist. They are realistic in putting up a mirror to the life many of us experience.
And just like in Psalm 10, the ending gives us strength and hope. While the realities of this world may put us down, we need to stay true to ourselves and the calling our all-powerful God has placed on us.
Don’t give up, even when you do your best and life gives you rubbish. Keep living the way God has purposed you to live.
Prayer: Lord, remind us anew of our calling to love You and love others. Amen.
What is your purpose for God right now?
