Life After Rehab

When she left rehab she knew life in the real world was going to be tricky

1 Corinthians 8:1-13

Reference: “Therefore, if what I eat causes my brother or sister to fall into sin, I will never eat meat again, so that I will not cause them to fall.” ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭8:13‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Explore: I recently watched a movie about a young lady who was struggling with alcoholism. She loved to live the wild life with her partner and would often wake up not knowing what had happened the night before.

After disgracing herself in front of the whole family she was finally admitted to a rehabilitation clinic. It took her a long time to settle in but she soon started to learn how she could change her ways.

When she left rehab she knew life in the real world was going to be tricky. As a gesture of love and support her partner also stopped drinking. This meant she wouldn’t be so tempted and would have an understanding person by her side.

Application: It’s important to have support at all times but particularly when you’re going through a challenging situation.

Paul encouraged his congregation to support each other, particularly when it came to staying true to thier faith in God. Our beliefs are often challenged by those out of the church so it’s good to support and encourage our fellow brothers and sisters.

If something we do leads someone else to stumble in their faith then we really need to question our actions.

Sometimes we can get so caught up in what we think is right that we forget to think of the impact we can have on others. Let’s not forget the most important thing is for people to have a relationship with God, not for them to live out faith how we see it should be.

Prayer: Lord, may I be more empathetic to those I know and work to helping everyone connect with You. Amen.

How can you support fellow believers to connect more with God?
