Preparation does not kill a dream.

Explore: There are times in our lives when we have to make some big decisions. Moving house, a new job or moving state; these are big choices that change our future quite dramatically.
John Acuff has written the book “Quitter”. This is a guide to help you leave your mundane day job to fulfill your ultimate dream career.
Not surprisingly, Acuff does not say just quit your job and do whatever you want. In a way, we want him to say this because it is inspiring and exciting.
While Acuff is committed to you fulfilling your dreams, he also understands the importance of it being sustainable. He encourages his readers to stick with the mundane whilst putting everything else in place to fulfill those dreams.
Preparation does not kill a dream. It can actually be the exact thing that brings it to life.
Application: Jesus was never in a rush to make a decision. Even when there were people dying, he didn’t ignore the people in front of him who also needed His help.
He made considered decisions and did not run away from His responsibilities. Even in the parable in Luke 13 He speaks about giving another season’s grace to a tree that is not flourishing.
We need to take a leaf out of Jesus’ book. I know there are times when we just want to move on, but that’s not always advantageous for our future.
When making decisions let’s be considered in our thinking and thoughtful in how we are going to carry out our choices.
Prayer: Lord, give me patience to hold off until the time is right. Amen.
What big decisions are you making at the moment? Have you thought through all the considerations?
