She initially explores the notes yet the tune is lost in the search for the correct keys.
Job 28:1-28
Reference: v.11 They search the sources of the rivers and bring hidden things to light. (TNIV Bible)
Explore: As I write this devotion my daughter sits at the piano in the other room. She has just got some new sheet music and it is the first time she has ever played this new song. Although my door is closed the sound of the piano filters into my room. She initially explores the notes yet the tune is lost in the search for the correct keys. However once she gets into the flow of the song the tune comes more easily and her fingers find the correct notes. The more she explores the clearer the song becomes and what began as a conglomeration of notes is now a melodic tune.
Application: Being the control freak that I am, I like everything to sound tuneful instantly. Whether it is music or a new life venture, I struggle in the beginning as I search out the correct rhythm. However, after a while I find the right keys or the right pathways and the new journey starts to take form. We cannot be expected to know everything instantly. Whether it is music, life, wisdom or God we need to allow ourselves the time to explore and understand new ways. Even in all of Job’s knowledge he was still learning about God’s wisdom. So too does each season in our life teach us new things about ourselves and about God. Instead of finding these times frustrating we need to keep trying to find the correct pathway, just like my daughter strives to find the right keys, and be willing to learn from our mistakes.
Prayer: Lord, as we grow and mature we expect to learn things more quickly. Help us to have the patience to learn more about You as we explore more of who You are. Amen.
What is something new you have to learn at the moment?
