Leaping Faith

I turn around to find him falling towards me

Luke 5:12-16

Reference: While Jesus was in one of the towns, a man came along who was covered with leprosy. When he saw Jesus, he fell with his face to the ground and begged him, “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.” (‭Luke‬ ‭5‬:‭12‬ NIV)

Explore: My five year old likes to jump from high places into my arms. Thankfully he’s not that proficient in climbing too high yet, but I still marvel at his trust in my ability to catch him.

There are times when all I will hear is my name and I turn around to find him falling towards me. There have been some close calls, but thankfully no mishaps!

Application: My boy has greater trust in me than I even have of myself. He believes I will catch him way before he takes the leap.

It is this same trust the man with leprosy shows to Jesus in Luke 5. He is standing there, still ill from leprosy, yet proclaims Jesus can heal him. That is real faith.

And it certainly puts my faith to shame. So often I want tangible proof before I believe anything.

Maybe I need to take the lead from my five year old and from this man with leprosy. Through their faith they experience great things.

Prayer: Lord, forgive me for needing so much evidence to have faith in You. May I take a step out to risk myself but trust in You. Amen.

How much do you really trust God?
