Explore: The other day I went to the King Tutankhamun exhibition.  King Tut (as he’s affectionately known) was a child of nine years old when he became king over 3000 years ago.  In 1922, Howard Carter discovered his tomb and all the ‘treasure’ that was held within.  There is an exhibition travelling the world that allows people to view some of the artefacts held within the tomb.  It was interesting to discover that Tutankhamun’s father was known for changing the zeitgeist of the time to be monotheistic (worship one god).  This change was seen not only in the symbolic writings, but also on the art of the time. Tutankhamun was known for coming into power at a young age and changing the culture of the time back to before his father’s reign.

Application: Hearing about people who were on this earth so long ago made me think about what I would be remembered for when I am gone.  When the Apostle Paul was doing his mission trips, he would hear of the work of the people he had visited and encouraged.  They were known for their faith and their works before Paul even got the chance to revisit them and see if for himself.  It’s interesting to think how people would remember us after we have left them.

Prayer:  Lord, there are so many things that take up our time, but they are not always long lasting.  Help us to discover the impact we can have on this earth which is lasting and good. Amen.
