Just Keep Giving

But they don’t stop there.

Psalm 37:1-40

Reference: The wicked borrow and do not repay,
but the righteous give generously (Psalm 37:21 NIV)
Explore: I have friends who are pastors in a poor area of the Philippines. While they don’t earn a great deal of money, they are incredibly generous with everything they can offer.
Their time is taken up by caring for others, their home is always filled with visitors and their car is used to help those in need of transport. But they don’t stop there.
Each year, they save a small amount from their meager earnings, to travel to another country in need, to serve families who are keen to know more about Jesus. Even though they are missionaries in their own nation, they go the extra mile to help others across the borders.
Application: These incredible people have taught me that you always have the capacity to give. You might look at your own budget and just not see any room to move, well let me assure you, there is always more of yourself to give.
Giving is not bound by money, but by our attitude. If we are truly thankful for all that God has given us, we will give over and over again. However, many of us hold tightly to what we have obtained and, whether we had $1 or $1 million, we would still display the same level of generosity.
To be righteous, and to follow in God’s way, He calls us to give. Not just a little but generously. There’s always more we can do.
Prayer: Lord, thank You for blessing us with what we have. May we not hold tightly to our possessions but give freely to all in need. Amen.
Where is God prompting you to give?
