Juggling the Busyness

I had no idea of what was to come.

Genesis 7:1-10

Reference: Noah was six hundred years old when the floodwaters came on the earth. (‭Genesis‬ ‭7‬:‭6‬ NIV)

Explore: I think I am the busiest I have ever been. When I was younger I thought I had a lot on my plate but I had no idea what was to come.

Now I juggle a marriage, the children, a full-time job, friends, church, schooling, house keeping and anything else that comes my way on any given day. I feel exhausted just writing it down!

And it doesn’t seem to be slowing down. In actual fact, every year seems to get busier and more challenging.

I am currently 36 and wondering how I’m going to make it through until retirement age! I can’t imagine what it would have been like for the early humans who lived for over 900 years!

Application: Noah was nearly 600 when God called him to build the ark. Surely he was old enough to hand any major job onto the younger generation – you know, those young ones in their early 500s!!

But Noah’s obedience was outstanding. He didn’t shirk responsibility, he didn’t make up excuses and he didn’t pass the buck. He put everything aside and was obedient.

While I am feeling old and tired, it’s good for me to be reminded about my obedience to God. He is the One I must prioritise, over all else.

And when I do obey Him, that is when I am truly living life to the fullest.

Prayer: Lord, forgive me when I fill my life with things that are not of You. May I listen when You call and obey when You ask. Amen.

Where does God sit on your priority list?
