It’s Easy

He just couldn’t get it!

2 Kings 3:1-27

Reference: “This is an easy thing in the eyes of the Lord; he will also deliver Moab into your hands.” 2 Kings‬ ‭3:18‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Explore: Last year we were trying to teach our six year old boy to tie his shoe laces. I remember this being a challenge for me as a child so we tried to make it as simple as possible.

We showed him how to do it, we told him how to do it, and we even sung songs about how to do it, but nothing worked. He just couldn’t get it!

Every time he tried the bow would fall apart and the laces were left open. He had failed so many times that he was starting to lose hope.

“I’m never going to be able to tie laces!”

Application: While tying laces is not a life-or-death situation, to a six year old it seemed impossible. To me, someone who has been tying laces for 30 years, I could understand his frustration but could do it so easily.

This is what it’s like when God sees us facing a difficult situation. He understands how hard it must be, but compared to our worries, He is far greater and has been able to solve problems for thousands of years.

When the army in 2Kings 3 found themselves without water they really were in a life-or-death situation. But the Bible says God saw this as “an easy thing”.

Whatever great stress you are going through, our God sympathises with you, but is more powerful than any issue that may come your way. Let’s hand our concerns over into His generously capable hands.

Prayer: Lord, although our concerns do not stress You, You are still sympathetic to our worries. May we never forget Your power and might when we face our struggles. Amen.

What struggles do you need to hand over to our powerful God?
