My Issue With God

That’s why I really struggle with God’s grace.
Psalm 41:1-13
Reference: Because of my integrity you uphold me
and set me in your presence forever. (Psalm 41:12 NIV)
Explore: I like to get things done. I feel better about myself when I have been productive.
My friends laugh that I actually have a plan of attack even for my days off. If I have a list of things I know I can complete by the end of the day – whether I’m working or on holidays – then I feel better about myself.
To say I’m task-orientated is an understatement!
Application: That’s why I really struggle with God’s grace. How can He love me and accept me based on Christ’s love, rather than on my actions?
Surely God can only truly love me if I fulfill a task for him?!
It’s not the case. He accepts me into His presence, not from anything I have done, but because of His love and grace. My response is to live a life of integrity to honour Him.
And, although I struggle that I can’t DO anything to earn His love, deep down I am so relieved that this is how our gracious God works.
Prayer: Lord, thank You for Your never-ending love. I know I don’t deserve it, but I graciously receive it, knowing my life is better with You at the centre. Amen.
