Explore: It seems everything comes flat packed these days! You can’t buy a kids toy or a piece of furniture without having to spend 20 hours putting it together once you get it home.
And I always feel the instructions leave a lot to be desired. They have diagrams that are minimalistic at best and usually seem to defy the rules of gravity to complete.
Sure, I would be totally lost if the instructions weren’t there, but sometimes I wish they were a little more helpful.
Application: Compared to putting a toy or piece of furniture together, the challenges of life are even greater. I often think an instruction manual for parenting, relationships and leadership would be really helpful.
And yet, over and over again, we get the instructions we need from the Bible. God didn’t leave us without guidance.
Sure, they may be tricky to live out at times, but the more we read the more understanding we have of how God would like us to live. It’s just up to us as to whether we pick up our life’s manual or not.
Prayer: Lord, we thank You for those who have gone before us to bring us this living word. May we continue to read it and process it each day so we know how to live for you in the best way. Amen.
What instruction have you received from the Bible lately?
