When you have an end goal in mind it can inspire you to go beyond your expectations.
Reference: May he give you and your descendants the blessing given to Abraham, so that you may take possession of the land where you now reside as a foreigner, the land God gave to Abraham.” (Genesis 28:4 NIV)
Explore: We are all motivated by different things. Some are motivated by money, others by power, love or even revenge.
Whatever the motivation may be, it can push people to do things they’d never thought possible. When you have an end goal in mind, whether it’s a positive or negative one, it can inspire you to go beyond your expectations.
If we desire to have good, positive goals then it helps for us to understand where our motivation is coming from.
Application: Abraham was given an incredible goal by God – to have lands filled with his generations. This goal was taken up by his son and then Isaac passed it down to Jacob.
God blessed this family line and each generation continued to live under God’s favour. They received the motivation from their elders and saw it was a way in which God wanted them to live.
These days we don’t always get our motivation from our parents. We are given freedom to find our own paths and set our own future.
We will, however, always get motivation from somewhere. Let’s be reflective in where we seek our inspiration and wary that our goals are God-breathed and our purpose is for that which lasts an eternity.
Prayer: Lord, may we draw our motivation from You. Bless us with Your love so we may live according to Your glory. Amen.
What is motivating your current goals?
