When we enter a room his face just beams.
Reference: “May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face shine on us—” Psalm 67:1 NIV
Explore: Our six month old son has an incredible smile. I know I’m biased but a lot of people comment on his big smile too.
He will grizzle if he’s tired or hungry, but most of the time in between he gives a big gummy smile.
He’s pretty good at sharing his smile with everyone but he’s really starting to recognise my husband and I now. When we enter a room that he is in, he’ll look up and his face just beams.
You cannot help but smile back at him. Even when he’s in his bassinet and should be sleeping, when you walk in and see that huge smile you can’t help but have your heart melt.
Application: In Psalm 67 it speaks of God making His face shine upon us. If God is looking at us, how would that make us feel?
If my six month old warms my heart, just imagine how much love I would feel if God looked upon me!
If God was to shine His face upon us what would I see? Recognition, love beyond compare, acceptance, grace…
The amazing thing is that God does shine His face upon us and yet often we miss His look of love. And we still judge ourselves harshly and think we are unloveable.
Don’t miss His gaze. He has eyes for you and wants you to know you are loved.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, gaze down upon us. May we be comforted by Your recognition and inspired by Your love. Amen.
What would God see when He looks upon you?
