I Love Conferences

Daily Devotions | Daily Devotional

I really got the sense that any time I put aside to learn more about God He would give me so much more than I had anticipated.

Exodus 24:1-18

Reference: v.12 The Lord said to Moses, “Come up to me on the mountain and stay here, and I will give you the tablets of stone with the law and commandments I have written for their instruction.” (TNIV Bible)

Explore: I’m not exactly a conference junkie, but I do really love going to conferences.  When I was in ministry there seemed to be a conference opportunity present itself nearly every week. I would attend a conference at least once each year, and while I may not remember every single thing mentioned at each event, I do appreciate the time I spent going along. You see it was often a sacrifice to go to a conference. No one filled in for me while I was away, so the weeks before I left were always busy, and the weeks after I got back to work were crazy. But it was always worthwhile.  I really got the sense that any time I put aside to learn more about God, He would give me so much more than I had anticipated. It was like He really blessed the time I had sacrificed to connect more with Him. Often at these conferences I would receive direction, purpose, wisdom, encouragement, personal reflection, and Godly knowledge. It was always worth the stress and hassle getting there.

Application: As I read Exodus 24, we hear of Moses going up onto the mountain to meet with God.  I can see that the time he put aside to spend time with God was so worthwhile. I’m sure that being so close to God, Moses got a lot more than he had anticipated. While we may not have a Mount Sinai to climb, we are able to have intimate moments with God. Whether it’s at a conference, on top of a mountain, in our car or even in our bedrooms, God wants to connect with us and give us all we need to worship Him.

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for going above and beyond in your gifts to us. May we find the opportunity to spend time with you. Amen.

Take the next few moments spending time with God.
