I Got A Bargain

The words cheap, discount and on sale are music to my ears.

2 Kings 5:1-27

Reference: ““By all means, go,” the king of Aram replied. “I will send a letter to the king of Israel.” So Naaman left, taking with him ten talents of silver, six thousand shekels of gold and ten sets of clothing.” ‭‭2 Kings‬ ‭5:5‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Explore: There’s nothing quite as exciting as getting a bargain. I’m a bit of a Scrooge with my money, so the words cheap, discount and on sale are music to my ears.

What really gets me excited is when you take an item up to the cash register thinking it is one price and when they scan it you discover it is even cheaper than you first thought. It’s like you have won the lottery without even buying a ticket!

Application: We love to get more than what we have bargained for.

In 2 Kings we hear of a man who was sick. Naaman was a commander in an army but that didn’t stop him from getting leprosy.

He had the money and the power to get help and yet no one had been able to cure him… until he found the one true God. He prepared himself with a letter of recommendation, silver, gold and expensive clothing.

He had everything possible to offer. And yet God did not want his earthly possessions.

It is the same with us today. It doesn’t matter how much money you have, where you live or who you know, God will meet with you if you want Him to. And he can do things far greater than your wealth could ever bring.

It’s good to be generous with what we have, but don’t let your lack of position or your limited funds stop you from drawing near to God.

Prayer: Lord, You desire to meet with us, exactly as we are. May we come to You to receive all we need. Amen.

What would you like to ask of God today?
