99% of their questions I can answer with great authority
Reference: “When the money of the people of Egypt and Canaan was gone, all Egypt came to Joseph and said, “Give us food. Why should we die before your eyes? Our money is all gone.”” Genesis 47:15 NIV
Explore: It’s funny how intelligent I can feel when I’m in the presence of a seven and eight year old! While their homework takes them an hour, I know I could complete it in about 5 minutes.
Anything they ask me to read I can do and 99% of their questions I can answer with great authority. They think I’m really smart and I’m happy not to correct them just yet!
Application: While my seven and eight year old marvel at my brilliance, I’m well aware of my limitations. Many issues I’m required to address leave me frustrated and going to people who are smarter than I.
It’s at these times I value close friends and wise leaders. I can go to them for advice and guidance.
When Egypt fell into famine they were fortunate Joseph had listened to God’s message and led the people well. He had the answer for their hungry bellies and helped to lead the people through a very difficult time.
It’s good to problem solve ourselves, but let’s not lose that child-like quality of asking for help. There will always be people who are smarter than us, so let’s lean on them for a greater understanding.
Prayer: Lord, thank You for giving us all different gifts and abilities. May we be humble when we need to ask someone for help and generous when someone needs our assistance. Amen.
Is there something weighing on your mind that another person could help with?
