This made me think a little more carefully about the words I used
Reference: “Because of my integrity you uphold me and set me in your presence forever.” Psalm 41:12 NIV
Explore: I recently spent some time in hospital. Over the three days I was there I was under the supervision of numerous nurses.
Each shift brought a different nurse into my room and into my life. I haven’t met so many new people in such a short space of time in quite some time.
While I wasn’t always feeling at my best during my hospital stay, I was very aware at some stage the nurse might discover I was a minister of religion. At that point in time I wanted them to still be able to see Christ reflected in me.
This made me think a little more carefully about the words I used and made sure I tried to make their day better as they were working to help make my day better. Even though I had limited resources around me, a few select words of appreciation went a long way.
Application: Integrity is a very important value to me and one I think is essential for us as Christians.
It’s easy to turn our Christian meter up or down according to who is around us. But the essence of who we are and what (or who) we live for should not change.
We never know when an opportunity will arise for us to represent Christ. Let’s always be on the front foot, ready to display His love, in every moment of our day.
Prayer: Lord, may I be ready to reflect Your love at every opportunity. Amen.
When do you find it challenging to continue to reflect God’s love?
