High School Reunion

It is more the exception rather than the rule if someone is dramatically different.

Hosea 10:1-15

Reference: “Since the days of Gibeah, you have sinned, Israel, and there you have remained. Will not war again overtake the evildoers in Gibeah? (Hosea 10:9 NIV)

Explore: High school reunions are always entertaining. You catch up with people from the past and see how much has changed.

I’m always surprised at how much has really stayed the same. It is more the exception rather than the rule if someone is dramatically different.

The image conscious girls are still vapid, the jocks still talk about sports and the music students still keep to their own group. The few differences are that the teachers don’t seem so old any more and the geeks have ended up richer than the lot of us!

Application: It’s unusual when people do actually change. And yet, it is part of what God calls us to do.

Right from a young age we are disobedient, but what God desires is for us to obey Him and come into line with His laws and calling.

These are the type of changes that are most important. The Israelites struggled with it and, if we were being honest, we do too. We get stuck in a routine and struggle to change for the better.

But, change is possible. God is patient with us so we must not give up.

Prayer: Lord, help me to change to be more like You. Mould me and shape me to be more Christlike in all I do. Amen.

What changes do you need to act upon?
