Before I turned up to the shoot I was terrified!
Reference: She gave this name to the Lord who spoke to her: “You are the God who sees me,” for she said, “I have now seen the One who sees me.” (Genesis 16:13 NIV)
Explore: I’ve just started doing some more video content with a brilliant video producer. Andrew is funny, creative and passionate about his work.
The last time we worked together I was presenting on a short video. It was the first time I had ever done anything like this and before I turned up to the shoot I was terrified! But I tried to be as professional as I could and was really happy with the end result.
Nine months later and I find myself working with Andrew again. We talked concepts and scripting and key messages but in all of that there was one sentence that stood out me…
Andrew and I were sharing a joke and he said, “It’s nice to work with someone who has a healthy self-esteem like me.”
I was glad that Andrew enjoyed working with me, but I never thought of myself as having a healthy self-esteem. It’s certainly more healthy now than when I was a child and teenager, but as far as self-confidence goes, I still feel I have a long way to go.
Clearly the persona I am projecting to Andrew is a little different to what I feel on the inside.
Application: That is what I love about my relationship with God. He knows exactly who I am, with all my insecurities, and He loves me unconditionally anyway!
Sometimes I can feel quite vulnerable knowing that He hears all my innermost thoughts, but it always gives me comfort, when I am in crisis, to know there is someone who knows me so completely.
This grace and comfort that God offers me is something I can return to others. I will never know other people’s innermost thoughts, but I can always show understanding and support when called upon.
Prayer: Lord, thank You for the love You give to me, particularly when I feel vulnerable and weak. Amen.
Who knows you the best in this world?
