That Happened To Me Too

I wouldn’t say history is repeating itself but…

Psalm 78:1-72

Reference: Like their ancestors they were disloyal and faithless, as unreliable as a faulty bow. (‭Psalm‬ ‭78‬:‭57‬ NIV)

Explore: I love a good conversation. When you connect with someone on a similar level, the stories just flow one from another.

There’s lots of statements like: “A similar thing happened to me…” and “That was like the time when I…”

It’s amazing how people experience similar things, even when they live totally separate lives.

I remember once talking to someone at a beach mission in Australia and realising we had both been to the same island in Italy and had the exact same waiter! That was pretty crazy.

Application: I wouldn’t say history is repeating itself, but our human nature does seem to be similar to those whom have gone before us. People often ask me how I can come up with so many personal stories that connect to the scriptures. I guess the reason is because my experience isn’t too far removed from the people thousands of years ago.

Sure, the technology of today may have made our world quite different, but we still experience pain, rebellion, and selfishness and we still need grace, love and redemption. This is something connecting all of humanity.

That’s why, over and over in the Bible, you will hear the same stories told. They are a great way of reminding us of, not just what God has done in the past, but what He’s capable of doing in our future.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for preserving the stories of old. May I be open with my own story so people can know You more. Amen.
