Who You Gunna Call?

We whinge and complain and ultimately become like the flawed people we are complaining about.

Psalm 60:1-12

Reference: Give us aid against the enemy, for human help is worthless. (Psalm 60:11 NIV)

Explore: There are a lot of people lately who are complaining about our current government. I don’t need to explain who is in leadership, as it doesn’t seem to matter. These same people are the ones who were also complaining about the opposition when they were in power!

I’m not a political beast so I probably should appreciate those who lobby for our democratic rights, but I do grow weary of people who complain about every little decision and every little statement coming from those in power. They don’t always know the full story and usually come from a narrow perspective.

Application: We all understand people are flawed, yet, we seem to forget when we feel unjustly treated. We whinge and complain and ultimately become like those we are complaining about.

We will have some expectations for others, but we also need to be realistic. Otherwise, people are always going to let us down.

God is the most reliable of all. He never leaves us, even though we may not always understand His decisions straight away.

I’m encouraged by the psalmist who, in times of trouble, calls out to God. He isn’t totally convinced of God’s response, but he knows it will always surpass that of humans.

Prayer: Lord, forgive me when I turn to other people before laying my concerns down with You. Thank You for being my ultimate confidant and companion. Amen.

What have you taken to other people, but it’s now time to bring to Christ?
