He will flex his muscles to display his power

Explore: We’re trying to encourage our toddler to eat more of his evening meal. Life, for him, just seems too busy and full of playing opportunities to sit down and eat a meal with vegetables in it!
We’ve had a slight breakthrough lately, however, as he’s decided he wants to grow up big and strong. After each meal he stands up beside the dinner table and says, “Look, I’ve grown this big now.”
He will pick up certain toys to show us how strong he is and flex his muscles to display his power. Sometimes he’ll even try to pick up something way beyond his capabilities, but is adamant that he can do it because he’s so strong now.
While we chuckle at how small he actually is, we encourage him to keep going and marvel at how much he’s grown.
Application: Often I can be like our toddler and very focussed on my own strength. While I’m all up for being independent and taking initiative, there are times when I need to defer to a higher power.
My strength will only get me so far, whereas the might of God is greater than anything.
He is gracious and encourages us in our growth but let’s not forget how great the One who made us is.
Prayer: Lord, by Your might we are saved. May we remember our place and rely on You for what we need. Amen.
Where do you need God’s might in your life right now?
