God’s Favourites

To God it’s not about favourites or priority blessing

Luke 1:26-38

Reference: Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be unable to conceive is in her sixth month. (‭Luke‬ ‭1‬:‭36‬ NIV)

Explore: Each of the gospels start in a different way. Luke begins by telling about the amazing miracle of elderly Elizabeth conceiving before we get to the miracle of Mary being pregnant.

While Mary’s pregnancy has been much more significant to our faith, upon reading this first chapter in Luke it made me realise that God actually allows many great things to happen. Elizabeth’s child may not have made history as much as Mary’s, but it was still a treasured miracle for her.

Application: There are times when we compare ourselves to others too much, even in our faith. We think that someone is more blessed than us because they’re recognised more within their congregation.

If someone is given more opportunity we think that God is behind them more than us. This is not true.

God has a plan for each of us. He desires for all His children to be in a close relationship with Him.

To God it’s not about favourites or priority blessing, they are human beliefs we add. God created us uniquely and so interacts with us differently. It’s not more or better, it’s just different.

Let’s stop comparing our faith with others and start leaning in to what God has planned specifically for us.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for seeing us all as individuals. We are not the same and You celebrate that every time You speak to us differently. May we embrace it as You have done. Amen.

How does God interact with you differently to others?
