God’s Confirmations

While the decision has been mine it is always great to have other people’s confirmation.

Genesis 46:1-34

Reference: ““I am God, the God of your father,” he said. “Do not be afraid to go down to Egypt, for I will make you into a great nation there.” ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭46:3‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Explore: At almost 37 years of age, having lived out of home since I was 14, it’s fair to say I have had to make many decisions in my life.

Some decisions have been small… should I buy this top? Some decisions have been large… should I marry this man?

While, in the end, the decision has been mine it is always great to have other people’s confirmation.

When I do finally take the plunge to go shopping, my sister will be sure to receive a photo from the change room asking whether I should buy an item of clothing.

Whenever I have to make a major decision, there are numerous people I will call on to run my thoughts past.
It’s always nice to know that I’m heading in the right direction.

Application: Jacob had a big decision to make. Seeing his son, Joseph, would have been very appealing but moving his whole family to a foreign area was a huge risk.

When he spent time with God, He confirmed to Jacob that his decision was good. Having your decision confirmed by the Lord would have been all the affirmation Jacob needed.

Having trusted people to confirm your decisions is good but running it past the Creator is the best. Don’t give up on asking God for His thoughts. Just like Jacob, it may not be until you start moving towards a decision that you get any kind of divine confirmation.

Prayer: Lord, give us Your holy confirmation on the decisions we make in our lives. Amen.

What do you need confirmation for?
