Go Back 10 Seconds

The screen on my phone totally shattered the other day. I have had this phone for quite some time and dropped it on many occasions. But I was foolish to allow my one-year-old to walk around with it.

My sister had called and I was chatting to her on speaker phone. My one-year-old was being super cute and holding the phone up to his ear like the conversation was for him. But when he became distracted he quickly discarded the phone and it dropped screen side down.

My phone did not like that! After all the knocks it had endured this was the final straw. I now look through lines of cracks and have to be careful that shards of glass do not fall out.

If only I could have gone back 10 seconds and taken my phone off my one-year-old. Then I wouldn’t have a broken phone. Then I would have saved all that money.

But we can’t go back 10 seconds. That’s not how God created the world. He made time so that it only moved forward, not back.

And so we can’t change the past. But we can make choices to determine our future.

Bad things happen. Frustrating things happen. But God gives us wisdom and courage to face the future.
You can’t change the past but you can impact the future.

Lord, may I not waste time looking back wishing for what could have been. But may I look forward and strive to make the world a place where Your kingdom can be realised. Amen.

What’s something from the past that you need to move on from?
