There are so many people in need in our community and in our world. And there are so many charities and organisations that have been set up to help people.
My husband and I have currently been looking at another charity to support. We already connect with a few but there are thousands more we could help.
Do we connect with a small one and help them significantly make a difference? Do we join in with a large organisation to join in making a bigger impact? Do we look local? Do we expand ourselves globally?
So many options and yet so few resources to go around.
This is something we’ve been considering for a while. And I’ve realised our indecision has halted us from doing anything at all!
Yes there are many options and yes our connection is significant. But in the end my giving will have an impact on me as well.
When I give money it is cut off from my influence. I can hope and pray it is used for a good and positive purpose, but it’s then up to the organisation to control.
But giving has a significant impact on the giver. They position themselves to think of others and their sacrifice encourages more generosity.
God calls each one of us to love our neighbour as ourselves. If we were in need we’d want someone to give to us.
Let’s extend ourselves by giving generously to others.
Lord, You gave the ultimate gift to us. May we give to others as a way of giving like You. Amen.
Who can you give to today?
