It’s interesting, in light of our overly image conscious world, neither of these two would be seen strutting their stuff on a catwalk. However, they are both having a greater influence on their world than those who would be perceived as more easy on the eye.
Application: When I read this passage in Ezekiel 16, I am reminded of how much God gives to us. As we are all made in His image, and He redeems us, we all have beauty.
For some, beauty comes in outward appearance, but more than not, our beauty comes in other forms. Some people display beauty in their work, their sense of humour or their relationships.
We have all been given beauty, it’s up to us how we use it. May we not be like Jerusalem in this passage, who trashed their beauty and abused it, but may we let it shine to allow others to see the impact God can have on His people.
Prayer: Father, thank You for the gift of beauty You give to us all. May we use it to bring You honour and not for our own selfish desires. Amen.
