First Day On The Job
After the first day you were left to your own devices
Reference: “so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:17 NIV
Explore: I was recently talking to an acquaintance who now works for an organisation I used to work for. We were chuckling about the similarities in what she was now experiencing and what had also happened to me.
We remarked that everyone was very friendly but after the first day you were left to your own devices. Fortunately, we had both been people who took initiative, but there was a great deal of trial and error in our early days.
It’s great when managers give you the freedom to do your job, however, there needs to be some level of guidance to get you going.
Application: God has certainly given us all free will. But He does desire to equip us with what we need to follow Him and do His will.
It maybe teachings we hear at church, scriptures we read at the right time or people who come into our lives that show us how to live wisely. God is always giving us His best, we just need to keep our eyes and ears open to His guiding.
Prayer: Lord, guide me in the way of Your will. Give me the wisdom to follow Your call and the discernment to know which path to follow. Amen.
