Again, I was up late into the night pouring over the pages and escaping into the brilliant story line.
Reference: v.4 For six months he put on exhibit the huge wealth of his empire and its stunningly beautiful royal splendors. (The Message Bible)
Explore: A couple of weeks ago I was on holidays and decided to re-read a favourite book of mine. I don’t often do this with novels, as I like the element of surprise to keep me hooked into the book. But this particular book is such a favourite that I was happy to re-read its well known story. Again, I was up late into the night pouring over the pages and escaping into the brilliant story line.
Application: At the same time I have just started reading through the book of Esther. This is not a new story to me, but one of my favourites from the Bible. The plot is one of high drama and so I’ve decided to read through this book in more of a story form by reading it from The Message Bible. There are some books of the Bible that I would not recommend you sit down and read all the way through in one sitting, however, Esther is quite different. You could read it as you do a novel, but read with your mind and your heart open as you take in a story of faith, courage and perseverance.
Prayer: Lord, may we learn from your word and apply it to our lives. Amen.
What is one of your favourite Bible stories?
