Facebook Status Updates

Psalm 53:1-6

Explore: I would have to say that I look at Facebook at least once a day.  There are some days when I will sit down and write a little message to a number of my Facebook friends.  However there are some days when I don’t have the time or the brain capacity to write too much detail and so I will just skim through people’s status updates.  I will read through anything that interests me and if one update particularly grabs my attention I might even open up the list of comments and read them too.  But just doing a quick skim helps me to keep in the loop and feel a little bit connected to the people that I know.

Application: In Psalm 52 it says that God looks down from heaven on the human race.  For a moment I thought that maybe this was like me skimming through my friend’s Facebook status updates.  The holy Father, up on high, just perusing over the earth to check out what people are up to.  The difference is that while I’m on Facebook I am just getting a quick grab of someone’s life.  However, when God looks upon us He sees straight to our heart.  He knows our desires, our fears and our feelings.  He doesn’t just glean our status updates for his own entertainment but desires to connect with each one of us.  And lucky for us, he doesn’t have those days where He doesn’t have time or the brain capacity to connect with the world.  We have access to him 24/7.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for always having time for us.  May the meditations of our heart be pleasing to You.  Amen.
