Exploring the Lay of the Land

I can see how much further we can go.

Genesis 13:14-18

Reference: Go, walk through the length and breadth of the land, for I am giving it to you.” (‭Genesis‬ ‭13‬:‭17‬ NIV)

Explore: I’m now in my second year of my job and I’m really noticing the difference.

In the first year I focussed on building relationships, discerning the culture and understanding the processes. But now I have a greater knowledge of the organisation, and they have of me, I can see how much further we can go.

Now I’m able to bring new ideas to the table as I can see the potential and how the organisation would benefit. In the first year I needed to discern the lay of the land, now I feel like I can start building on it.

Application: When God gives us a calling it can take us a while to get an understanding of how we can use our lives to His glory. But as time goes by and we get a greater understanding of God and ourselves, we can grow God’s call and our work within it.

Just as God said to Abram, we need to go and explore what God has in store for us. Sure, it means more dedicated time and more responsibility. But it also leads to more of God’s richest blessings.

Prayer: Lord, may we hear Your call and have the courage to explore the land you have before us. Amen.

Where do you need to explore further?
