Exodus: Gods and Kings

Exodus had many stars from Sigourney Weaver to Christian Bale.

Psalm 90:1-17

Reference: May your deeds be shown to your servants, your splendor to their children. (‭Psalm‬ ‭90‬:‭16‬ NIV)

Explore: I’ve just seen the latest Hollywood movie depicting a Biblical story. Exodus had many stars from Sigourney Weaver to Christian Bale.

If you were looking for an exact theological reflection of God freeing the Israelites from Egypt, then don’t watch the movie. However, there were some great Biblical themes represented.

It was clear in the story that God’s power was supreme. Humans tried to accomplish things in their own power and failed.

It was also clear that even the strongest believer struggled in their faith. They felt bereft from God and called to Him when they were in trouble.

The movie was still very Hollywood but brought some great ideas of God to light.

Application: The Psalms often ask God to reveal Himself. Psalm 90 is said to have been a psalm from Moses.

Even with his great calling, Moses still needed God’s presence and reassurance. It’s no wonder we need it too.

We should not shy away from asking God to reveal Himself to us. He listens when we call and has a Canaan for our future.

Prayer: Lord, reveal Yourself to us today. May we know Your power and Your love in our lives today. Amen.

What do you need God to reveal to you?
