Some of the exercises in the circuits she has are terrible!
Reference: “But you, Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high.” Psalm 3:3 NIV
Explore: I’ve just started working out with my sister. At least once a week we hit the gym together and do a set circuit her trainer has set out for her.
I quite enjoy cardio and I love hanging out with my sister, but to be honest, some of the exercises in the circuits she has are terrible!! I mean, they are making my body do things it does not want to do.
Lunges, burpees, squats, mountain climbers, planking… The pain never stops!
The great thing about doing these work outs is that my sister is the best encourager. While I’m sweating it out and thinking I just want to give up, she is shouting out encouragement like, “You’ve got this Linda… You’re looking great… You can do it…”
As she is proclaiming it, I am believing it. And so, I dig deep and go further than I’ve ever gone before.
Application: Our words can be very powerful. My exercise sessions with my sister are good reminders that it is good for me to speak out my faith as well.
Life is not always easy, and when times of trouble hit it is good to speak out God’s power and might in our situation. I think that’s what the psalmist was doing in Psalm 3. He was struggling, but he still said “But you, Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high.”
Whatever your situation, we can find words of God that can give us courage and peace.
Lord, you are powerful, You are a conquerer, You are compassionate, You are wise, You are all-knowing, You are forever, You are my protector…
Never forget that God is all things to all people. Speak it out over your life today.
Prayer: Lord, You are our everything. Even when we struggle and doubt may we declare Your might and majesty. Amen.
What words of God do you need to speak into your life today?
