Everyday forgetfulness

It’s easy to sing praise when we’re happy and reach out for help when we’re lost, but where does our relationship with God go when we are accomplishing the everyday tasks?

James 5.13-20

Reference: v.13 Is any one of you in trouble? He should pray.  Is anyone happy?  Let him sing songs of praise. (NIV Bible)

Explore: True faith in God is worshiping Him in every situation.  When we are happy, we can praise God for all His goodness.  When we are downcast, we can connect with God and rest in His unending mercy.  Often it’s easier to think of God when we are in the extremes of emotion, but what about in the every day routine of life?

Application:  I often fall into the cycle of getting so caught up with doing this, attending that, accomplishing the other that I forget to involve God in my everyday life.  The amazing graciousness of God means that He is with us at all times, but so often we forget to draw near to Him in the everyday.  God has certainly given us all strengths and abilities to deal with the everyday situations, but why deal with all things in our own strength, when we have the power of the most mighty God on our side.

Prayer:  Lord, so often I do things in my own strength and forget to include You in all I do.  You are the mighty One.  All things are possible through You.  May I rely on You more and more each day.  Amen.
