The Emotions Guide

You may even catch me skipping around and whistling a tune.

Luke 11:33-36

Reference: Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eyes are healthy, your whole body also is full of light. But when they are unhealthy, your body also is full of darkness. (‭Luke‬ ‭11‬:‭34‬ NIV)

Explore: My actions depend very much on my emotional state. If I’m cranky, I perceive everything in a negative light.

If I’m excited, there’s not a great deal that can bring me down. You may even catch me skipping around and whistling a tune.

However, if I’m feeling down then the whole world is against me. Anything anyone says is ridiculous and no one truly understands what it is to be me.

My emotions heavily control my thought processes.

Application: Likewise, our faith can help determine our emotions and our thoughts. When we acknowledge the light we stand in, then our outlook is much different to being in darkness.

We all have the ability to be in the Light. We know our lives will be better off, and yet, we are still drawn to the darkness.

When we find ourselves in a dark place, let’s try to focus our eyes towards the Light. He will brighten our night so that others can see.

Prayer: Lord, forgive me when I wallow in the dark. May I pursue the Light with everything I’ve got. Amen.

What difference can the light make in your life?
