Don’t Forget To Floss

One would not think that a simple domestic task of flossing would lead to such human destruction!

Explore: I recently heard Pastor Craig Groeschel talk about losing discipline in his life. He realised it all started with flossing.

If Craig got lax in flossing his teeth it would often lead to other healthy routines slipping from his life. Once the flossing was forgotten it would lead to eating badly, foregoing exercise and then becoming a general lazy mess.

One would not think that a simple domestic task of flossing would lead to such human destruction! But I can totally relate.

I try to eat healthily and exercise regularly, however, if I fail at one point of the day I end up writing the whole day off. For example, if I relented in eating a piece of slice at work I would then go home and empty my pantry of all the unhealthy snacks.

Give me an inch and I’ll take a mile! So often, when we fail a little we just throw in the towel and totally give up.

Application: Flossing and eating may not lead to eternal damnation, however, we often treat our faith walk in the same way. If we have done something wrong then we throw in our whole religious discipline.

This happened with God’s people under Samuel’s rule. They realised they had treated God badly, but the prophet Samuel encouraged them not to turn away from the Lord completely.

This highlights the incredible grace of God. We often offend Him with our words and actions, however, He continues to love us and wants to be in relationship with us.

Don’t hold onto the wrong you have done in the past. Know that all people have sinned but “do not turn away from the Lord, but serve the Lord with all your heart.”

Prayer: Lord God, we will never be able to fully grasp the extent of Your grace. All we do know is that it changes our whole world. Thank you.  May we not focus on our wrongdoing, but ask for forgiveness and continue to focus on Your love and grace. Amen.

What sin from your past are you holding onto?
