“Why hasn’t anyone ever told me about this before?”
Reference: “Pilate had a notice prepared and fastened to the cross. It read: JESUS OF NAZARETH, THE KING OF THE JEWS.” John 19:19 NIV
Explore: I recently heard of a couple in their 40s who came in contact with a gathering run by Christians. As time went on they got to know about these people’s faith and connected to church.
As they heard about Jesus and the hope they receive from faith in Him they were amazed. “Why hasn’t anyone ever told me about this before?” was their main response.
Application: When I speak to people outside of church I find they either don’t know anything about what happens or they can only draw from their experience, which is often decades old. Explaining just the smallest part of my faith and church experience is usually a surprise to them. Even my middle aged physiotherapist was surprised there were ministers in the church who were paid.
There are many people in our world who need Jesus, and may even be open to hearing about Him, but there’s no one to connect them to Him. Even Pilate, being outside the Jewish faith, believed Jesus was the King of the Jews once he met with Him.
Let’s not hold back on sharing Jesus with others. They may not always respond, but maybe they will also think, “Why hasn’t anyone ever told me about this before?”
Prayer: Lord, You are the best thing we can ever offer to our friends and family. May we find new and relevant ways to connect You to our world. Amen.
How can you share Jesus today?
