Believe it or not I have never received a text message from God
Reference: “Then David knew that the Lord had established him as king over Israel and had exalted his kingdom for the sake of his people Israel.” 2 Samuel 5:12 NIV
Explore: I’ve had quite a few medical appointments lately and I’ve been amazed at the additional use of technology a lot of practices are using these days. 24 hours before my appointment I will get a text message reminding me of the time I need to be at the clinic.
Now, I am a fairly organised person and if something is in my diary I am not likely to miss it. However, these text messages are great reminders and little confirmations that my diary is correct and I have an appointment ahead.
Application: Believe it or not I have never received a text message from God – although maybe He should be sending a few out on a Saturday to remind people to go to church on Sunday!! But I do find God sends me little confirmations.
When we made the challenging decision to say farewell to our foster boys, God placed two loving families in my week who confirmed I had made the right choice. I believe this was God’s way of showing me He was there and I had made the right decision.
When I look back at a number of discerning times of my life I can see God’s little confirmations along the way.
Often they are not obvious at the time, but when I reflect back I can see He has reminded me of His love and acceptance.
This even happened for the great King David. Samuel had anointed him to be King years ago and yet in 2 Samuel 5, when all the elders of Israel came to him, it was like a confirmation of the anointing he had received years earlier.
Let us be courageous in the path we believe we are called to walk, but let’s also be open to receiving God’s confirmations as we go.
Prayer: Lord, thank You for loving me so much that You care about all the decisions I have to make. May I continue to seek confirmation from You in all I do. Amen.
What would you like God to confirm for you?
