Dealing With Difficulties

It was like I was being squished from every angle

Ezekiel 32:1-32

“ ‘With a great throng of people

I will cast my net over you,
and they will haul you up in my net. (Ezekiel 32:3 NIV)
Explore: There are times in our lives when our problems seem like mountains and issues loom over us like dark, grey clouds.
A few years ago I felt like my whole world was crashing down on me. My father had been diagnosed with a terminal illness, I was struggling with the leadership at my place of employment, and our teenage foster daughter was not making home life easy.
It was like I was being squished from every angle of my life and even small things like stubbing my toe, or not being able to find a park, would bring me to tears!
I remember driving along in the car one day and feeling like my head was about to explode with everything that was going on. But then I was reminded that all of this was not my burden to carry. Christ was willing to take my load, I just had to be willing to hand it over.
To be honest, my situation did not change from that day. My father was still sick, work was still difficult, and my daughter was still challenging, however, I felt so much more confident about my future.
Putting my cares in Jesus’ hands meant that He was in control and I had a compassionate companion for the journey.
Application: When life gets tough we often forget to turn to God. And yet, He is the most powerful ally we could hope for.
In Ezekiel 32 we read of a nation who was strong but destructive. But even this great nation could not compete with God.
Let’s not forget to call on God when our life is challenging. He is more powerful than we can ever imagine.
Prayer: Lord, when I don’t have the strength, may my eyes turn to You. Amen.
What do you need to leave at Christ’s feet today?
